INDUSTRIALIZATION

The growth of industry in the United States evolved over time. This was unlike England where the process was quick and thus deserves the title of Industrial Revolution.  The event in the United States is better termed as the Industrial Evolution.  Explain the influences of the advancements of technology, communication, and transportation upon this industrial event.  How did Ely Whitney influence the progress of both the North and the South?  Who were the first workers in the northern factories?  What was the Lowell System?  How did slavery help the north?  Relate Article I, section 8 of the Constitution to the growth of industry.  Which canal was the most successful, why?  Why changes were needed in agriculture to promote industrial growth, why?  Where did the new imagrants come from during the 1840's?  What impact did they have on industry?
