THE WEST

The railroads supply the means for mass movement of people and thus are the main reason for the closing of the west.  What did the railroads offer to the people of the west?  How did the railroads change the use of the west?
 
The idea of an open range was in direct conflict with the interests of the new homesteaders.  What were the goals of both groups?
 
Native Americans could not stop the flow of the movement of people.  Their way of life was greatly changed.  Discuss the role of gold, buffalo, and farm land in this change of life.
