1970 AND BEYOND

Richard Nixon’s election in 1968 was the result of more than the unpopularity of Lyndon Johnson and the war. It was the result, too, of a strong popular reaction against what many Americans considered a frontal assault on the foundations of their culture. What was the New Left? Explain how the new left and counterculture were related? What type of music began to spread during this time period?  What happened at Kent State and how did this event define the era?  How did Gerald Ford become President?  What was the relatinship between Carter and Iran?  Why was Regan important to the time period?
